Off the Grid
The rain and wind finally stopped sometime in the middle of the night, after knocking out power for awhile. The Rev and I have been prepared this year, with headlamps on rechargeable batteries to read in bed. We now keep a supply of fresh water, because the outages seem to be more frequent this year. It's nice to curl up with a good book, instead of the constant yapping of media, if one can shut out the moans in the trees. Resetting all the digital clocks is a hassle. The neighbors with the sawmill finally cut up the big maple we lost in the last storm. We were hoping they'd leave it as a bridge across the creek for animals and home for new ferns. We miss that tree. And, nah, there can't be anything to this global warming thing . . .
